About
AidReady Help Finder helps you find the nearest hospital, clinic, pharmacy, fire station, or police station, from a typed address or your browser's current location. In an urgent situation, knowing where to go matters — this app geocodes your starting point, searches OpenStreetMap for facilities of the type you need within 5km, and shows them on a map and in a list, ordered by distance.
How to use it
- Type an address — enter it in the Address field and pick a facility type, then select "Find nearby help." Your address is looked up and used as the search origin.
- Or use your location — select "Use my location" instead, and grant the browser permission when asked. This skips the address lookup entirely and searches from your current coordinates.
- Pick a facility type — hospital, clinic, pharmacy, fire station, or police. You can change this and search again at any time.
- Sort and filter results — once results load, sort by distance or name, or type into the filter box to narrow the list by name or address. Both happen instantly without a new search.
Credits
AidReady Help Finder is built on three external services:
- OpenCage Geocoding API — turns a typed address into coordinates.
- Overpass API — searches OpenStreetMap data and its contributors for nearby facilities.
- Leaflet.js — renders the map.
